If ALL documentation is in order with a completed application with no errors, then the turnaround time is approximately 90 days. Please note that it is 90 days from the time the full application has been received by CBIP. Missing information or documentation on your application may delay this process.
No, you may request it only under special circumstances, e.g. proven lost or unavoidably damaged/destroyed. Please apply in writing to CBIP for request for replacement to be considered by CBIP. We ask all certificate holders to please retain their original certificates, as we will only re-issue the certificate with a fee charged - no scanned copies (Please see our Fee Schedule)
If you have lost your certificate, we will issue you another original certificate. However, there will be a cost for the reissue (Please see our Fee Schedule) You can also use the certification verification tool on the CBIP website to view the status of any certification held.
The certification application forms are available to download on each specific discipline page. Please include all evidence and any relevant documentation, as missing documentation will delay the process of you receiving your certification. You may send us your application via post OR email. It is strongly advised that you read the requirement of CBIP Guidelines for Certification - General Requirements (PRO-CER 18) and discipline specific guidelines found on your chosen discipline page to ensure you are fully conversant with the requirements.
Re-certification is required each 10 years.
Please make sure that you apply for each re-certification BEFORE your expiry date (you must apply at least 4 months prior to expiry) if you wish to remain certified by CBIP. Note: Competence Certificate is issued only if the relevant discipline certificate is current.
If CBIP recieves your application after your expiry date, you are not permitted to practice and will incur a late fee (see Fee Schedule) and possible delays in processing.
No, because the Competence Certificate covering that discipline will also be expired. If you hold multiple disciplines you are not permitted to perform inspection on the expired discipline only.
Note: This also applies to all disciplines listed on your discipline recognition record. You are not permitted to perform inspection if your discipline certification, and/or Competence Certificate has expired.
Should certification be expired for a period longer than a year, your certification will lapse and you will be required to apply for certification as an initial applicant.
You must have the required training and experience to achieve full certification. Refer to Guidelines for Certification - General Requirements (PRO-CER 18) Appendix B.
No, except as follows.
CBIP is not part of a Multilateral Recognition Agreement with international qualification agencies. Persons with certification from an international QIA signatory certification scheme may apply to CBIP for recognition of other qualifications.
Submission of an application does not imply acceptance or approval by CBIP. CBIP reserves the right to reject requests for recognition of other qualifications or to undertake examinations or the full certification process.
If your CBIP certification is not up on our website, either your Competence Certificate or discipline certificate has expired, you have failed to renew, recertify or you have been the subject of a formal complaint or under disciplinary investigation. If you have any queries about the status of certification after checking the CBIP website inspector listing contact CBIP office so we may investigate further.
No, CBIP Certification is a personal certification that is owned by the certificate holder regardless of who paid the fees.
No.
Once you have completed your training and sat and passed your exams, the remainder of the certification process must be completed. If you have provided an application form and met all requirements, including payment of fees, your file will be reviewed by the Approvals Committee. If they agree that all requirements have been completed you will be issued with a Competence Certificate, at which time you can start inspecting under your own certification.
If you have not completed an application or it is not current your must apply for certification. See your chosen discipline page for your application downloads.
This is dependent on which discipline and which level you would like to apply for. Refer to the relevant section of Guidelines for Certification - General Requirements (PRO-CER 18) and discipline specific guidelines available on each discipline page from the discipline drop down menu.
